Community Involvement

At Schwartz & Park, L.L.P., we consider it essential to serve not only our clients, but our community. Having chosen to establish our firm in Hays, we want to do everything we can to help our city and region continue to thrive.

Part of our investment in the community involves service on behalf of its youngest members. We are parents ourselves, and as attorneys who practice family law, we work with many families to try to create the best possible future for their children. We also believe that building a good future for our children shouldn’t just be limited to our business hours.

With that in mind, Greg Schwartz served 15 years as a member of the U.S.D. 489 Board of Education and has served as President of the U.S.D. 489 Foundation for Educational Excellence. He has also been active in coaching youth sports, and has volunteered with Northwest Kansas Juvenile Services.

Carol Park is also involved in activities, both professional and personal, that improve the lives of families. She has been active in youth education at her church, is an active member of the Hays Area MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) chapter, and has previously served on the Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee, striving to create a framework that is fair to parents and ensures that children’s needs are met.

As attorneys, our community also consists of our fellow legal professionals, and we are proud of our profession and its service to Kansas. In 2013, Carol Park was selected by the Chief Justice of the Kansas Supreme Court to serve on the Kansas Board of Law Examiners. The 10-member Kansas Board of Law Examiners is comprised of judges and lawyers. It oversees and grades the twice-yearly bar examination and presides over hearings on bar applicants’ character and fitness to practice law. The Board also studies issues facing the bar and makes recommendations to the Kansas Supreme Court on policies and procedures related to bar admission. On June 24, 2020, Carol was appointed as Chair of that Board. She enjoys working to ensure that the next generation of Kansas attorneys are skilled and ethical practitioners.
